Fund Heart Surgery for Wendmagegn

More children in our program are waiting for life-altering treatment. Any donations beyond the goal shown here will go to them!

Our partners at an Ethiopian church are asking for help for Wendmagegn. He’s a 9-year-old boy who’s faced many medical challenges. In fact, doctors discovered the birth defect in his heart while he was at the hospital for a colostomy closure.

All his medical setbacks have slowed his education and growth. He misses school because of his weakened heart. Anxiety about running out of energy while playing with his peers keeps him from attending the Compassion center. His parents miss work to take him to the doctor.

And now, our church partner warns, the consequence could be deadly. Doctors have decided to address his heart defect before finishing treatment for his intestinal issues. Until these are all addressed, Wendmagegn’s life is at grave risk.

No child should suffer like Wendmagegn.

No child should spend hours or days in hospitals with IVs in their arms.

No child should stay home because they’re too weak to play with friends. It’s more than we can stand to think about.

But you can be the difference. You can help Wendmagegn close this chapter of his life and write a new one. One where he’s strong and full of life.

Dilla Emmanuel United Church is seeking to raise $26,332.49 for the heart surgery.

That means 132 donors giving $200 each would fully cover the procedure with some to spare for any future treatment.
