Dignity Through Sanitation for Guatemalan Children
Donate To This CampaignHelp 2,250 children in Guatemala access safe, hygienic bathroom facilities at their Compassion centers.
Poor sanitation threatens children's health and well-being in the impoverished areas of Guatemala where Compassion's church partners work. Many families make do with makeshift latrines that are unsanitary and lack basic utilities. So without hygienic facilities nearby, children face an elevated risk of diseases like cholera, dysentery, hepatitis A and more.
This sanitation crisis impacts at least 2,250 precious children registered at eight of our church partner locations in Guatemala.
That's why Compassion is working to construct 15 new bathrooms with sinks, showers and running water at these eight child development centers. Separate facilities for boys and girls will provide privacy and security.
Placing safe, clean bathrooms on site will allow these children to practice proper hygiene habits like handwashing while they attend the center. It will also eliminate the need to leave the grounds and reduce the risks of disease exposure.
Local teams will provide hygiene training to reinforce healthy sanitation practices that can be applied at home.
With $108,825 in funding, we can provide these children with the basic dignity of easily accessible sanitation facilities. We'll reach our goal if 436 people donate just $250 each.
Give today and help unlock better health, safety and brighter futures for children in desperate poverty — all through the power of working bathroom facilities right where they learn and grow.
