Keep a High Schooler From Becoming Bedridden

Help him manage his chronic autoimmune disease.

Recently, our church partners in Honduras told us about a 17-year-old boy who needs urgent medical care for myasthenia gravis, a chronic disease that weakens the muscles. His church has been supporting him since his diagnosis two years ago, but a recent medical emergency revealed that he needs better care than he’s receiving at a local public hospital.

During this recent medical crisis, our church partner discovered that the hospital lacks the medications, medical supplies and specialized treatments needed to address his condition. The crisis seriously deteriorated his health and mobility, and makes it clear that he needs immediate and sustained care.

We need to meet this request quickly and strategically to help this young man recover from his medical emergency and provide him with ongoing support for his illness. Once fully funded, this project will provide him with comprehensive medical support. His church will work with his family and doctors to ensure he receives the tests, medications and ongoing care that will help preserve his mobility. The church will also provide emotional support and companionship to him and his family during this challenging period.
