Shama: Rebuilding Homes in Tanzania

Donate To This Campaign

Join us and Shama in a mission to provide safe and reliable shelter for eight families with children in Compassion’s program in Tanzania.

About the Community:

Located in a village of fishermen on Lake Victoria, this community faces extreme poverty, living off less than $1 a day. The lack of male leadership has left women burdened with all responsibilities, as men often squander resources on alcohol and adultery. However, the local church is a beacon of hope, striving to support children in need of spiritual, mental, social, and physical assistance.

Current Living Conditions:

These families reside in one-room homes constructed from unstable materials, leading to structural hazards and health risks. Water leaks create mold and allergens, exacerbating respiratory issues among caregivers. Moreover, overcrowded living situations in slums expose children to various dangers, including abuse and disease.

What the Project Will Achieve:

Your contributions will enable these families to construct new homes with three bedrooms and a sitting room, providing much-needed space and stability. The involvement of the local church and community ensures that individual needs are addressed, creating a sustainable, long-term solution.
